HOW TO CREATE OPTIMAL AUDIO FOR THE WEB WITH COOL EDIT by Archer Dusablon If stereo is necessary, your "new" recording (FILE, NEW) should be done in 44100 -- STEREO -- 16 BIT wavform. If mono, such as a voice track, your "new" recording (FILE, NEW) should be done in 44100 -- MONO -- 16 BIT wavform. (It's a waste of file space and loading time to do a mono file in the stereo mode.) Do all your editing in that format (cutting out pickups, pops, trimming front & end, etc...). Once the file is ready to air, on the TRANSFORM MENU select AMPLITUDE. Choose DYNAMICS PROCESSING. Select 2:1 COMPRESSOR <20DB, and hit OK. Then, on the TRANSFORM menu select AMPLITUDE. Choose NORMALIZE. Set to 95% and hit OK. Then on the FILE menu, click SAVE AS. In the SAVE AS TYPE box, choose MP3 format: it may read MPEG 3 (FhG) (*.mp3). Be sure "Save Extra Non-Audio Information" is UNCHECKED. Click OPTIONS on that same box and select a bitrate of 64K if mono, 128K if stereo, then hit OK. Save the file under filename.mp3
